FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND DEMO FILES
|
| Q: |
Is there a demo copy or sample outputs of the program available online? |
| A: |
Yes the help file is available, it contains the program design basis
information and context sensitive program images. There are sample outputs in PDF format as well.

| Q: |
Does the program handle SI unit conventions? |
| A: |
The program conforms to SI unit conventions
as well as FPS. Reinforcing standards are per ASTM A-615 for FPS, and per ASTM A-615M as well
as Canadian Metric Standards for SI. All Foot2000 users are eligible to receive free SI version
updates. |

| Q: |
How does the continuous footing portion of the program address the Safety Factor of 1.5 required for overturning on Wind Load cases? |
| A: |
The ACI Alternate Design Method equation 0.667D + W reduces
the input dead load as well as the weight of the concrete footing to account for the safety
factor. The 0.85D + Eq load case accounts for a similar earthquake overturning requirement. |

| Q: |
How do I enter a Modulus of Sub-Grade Reaction directly? |
| A: |
In the Soil Allowables screen enter in the desired bearing capacity under
the Direct Specification Method and then adjust the Safety Factor to get the desired value. |
 |
| Q: |
Does the program design Caissons? |
| A: |
No. If the request becomes more popular then a Caisson design tool may be added. |
 |
| Q: |
Why won't the program allow me to specify a square footing thickness that
is thinner than the computed thickness? |
| A: |
We don't want to see any shear failures and the program reflects that philosophy. |
